When I hear good music, I get this feeling inside of me, comparable to a emotional orgasm. I don’t know if anybody else gets like that, but true talent, deep lyrics, and the perfect beat leave me with this feeling like there is hope in the world.
But since I’m on my raves, I must first and formost give rave reviews to Jean Grae’s Jeanius album. It was ‘genius’ alright - deep lyrics that even had me thinking like damn, impeccable flow and of course, 9th Wonder’s fabulous production talents. Honorable mentions to past albums that made me feel the way that Jeanius did include Black Star’s album Black Star, Common’s One Day it’ll all Make Sense, and Kanye West’s The College Dropout (yes, ‘All Falls Down’, ‘Spaceship’ and ‘Never Let Me Down’ got me through some emotional times).
Let me be a living testimony: music is a true form of therapy. You just have to make sure you listen to the right stuff at the right time.
